Exploring Deep-ea Biodiversity in The Arctic Ocean
Leave a message
Researchers from Norway, Germany and other countries are studying deep-sea biodiversity and ecosystems in the Arctic Ocean. The researchers have compiled and analyzed more than 75,000 pieces of data related to 2,637 deep-sea Arctic Ocean species, using publicly available databases, existing scientific literature and so on.
The results show that the species most involved in the current data are arthropods and porifera, and that the deep Arctic Ocean has a variety of geomorphic structures and is rich in biodiversity. The researchers also identified areas with current data gaps, including the deep-sea basins of the Central Arctic Ocean.
