THE REASONS AND SOLUTIONS BASED ON UNDERWATER CAMERA WITH UNCLEAR IMAGE

The  photos or TV images of underwater camera are unclear and are the most common. And they are also effect the image quality. There are many reasons for the ambiguity of the image. Now let's analyze the scattering of water to reduce the sharpness of the image based on underwater camera.


There are many reasons to cause images unclear, but the main reason is the low transparency of water, and the high content of tiny inorganic and organic particles in the water. When people take shooting in turbid water, the scattering effect of these tiny particles on the light makes it possible to blur the image even if it is underwater or underwater.

From the perspective of the application and development of optical imaging technology, this problem is still difficult to solve fundamentally. So we can adapt the following methods to perfect that situation.


First, choose the water with high transparency or the timing to shoot.

 The operator can’t choose the working water freely. But in some cases, such as high transparency in the vicinity, high image quality requirements.  If the conditions were permitted, you can transfer the work object to a water with good water quality for shooting.


Second, shooting at close range.

 Under the same shooting conditions, the closer the underwater camera is to the subject, the smaller the scattering of light in the water, and the image is  clearer. Therefore, when you shoot  in the underwater, only be the shooting requirements are met, the shooting distance is as close as possible.

According to experience,, the distance of underwater shooting should not exceed 1/2-1/3 of the transparency of water. The transparency of the water can be roughly estimated using the disc method. However, it should be noted that when shooting at close range, the actual minimum shooting distance should not be less than the closest shooting distance of the camera lens, otherwise the image will be blurred due to the inability to focus.


Third, can use a dedicated underwater camera or a drowning camera.

Using underwater camera or device is equipped with a pressure-resistant or non-pressure-resistant camera cover in front of the camera lens. The medium inside the closed cavity is air or clear water.


Forth, underwater lighting uses oblique side light instead of smooth light. 

Under the same shooting conditions, the different illumination directions of the light source have a certain influence on the clarity of the image. In underwater lighting, the illumination should be left from the camera. The distance forms an oblique side illumination.


Finally, it’s important to prevent water from tumbling during underwater shooting.

 In especially, when the operator shoot in the underwater, the diver moves the position or hits the ankle. It is easy to stir the water and affect the shooting effect. This should be paid special attention before shooting.
