Marine pasture construction in different country
In China
The concept of marine pasture construction was first proposed by Academician Zeng Chengkui in the 1970s, that is, the implementation of “marine farming and animal husbandry” in China's coastal waters. In 1979, the Guangxi Fisheries Department launched the first concrete artificial reef in the Beibu Gulf, which opened the prelude to the construction of marine pastures. From 1981 to 1988, a large number of artificial reefs were released in eight other provinces and cities in China, with a total volume of more than 200,000 cubic meters, and achieved good economic and ecological benefits.
In Japan
The idea of marine pastures was first proposed by Japan in 1971. In 1973, Japan proposed at the Okinawa International Marine Expo: for the survival of mankind, under the management of mankind, the sustainable use and coordinated development of marine resources. From 1978 to 1987, Japan began to comprehensively promote the "Cultivated Fisheries" program across the country, and built the world's first marine pasture - the Japanese Kuroshio Ranch.
In South Korea
From 1994 to 1996, the feasibility study of marine pasture construction was carried out. In 1998, the “Ocean Ranch Project” was implemented. The plan attempts to replenish and form (manufacture) pastures through the use of marine aquatic resources, through the use and management of pastures. The sustainable growth and utilization of marine fishery resources has been maximized. In 1998, South Korea first began to build marine pastures with a core area of about 20 square kilometers. Completed in June 2007. After the initial success of Tongyeong Ranch, it is advancing the construction of four other marine pastures and applying the experience and results gained from Tongyeong Ranch to other marine pastures.
