First, moisture resistance
The intrusion of moisture has a great influence on the insulation performance of the connector, and it is easy to rust metal parts. The constant humidity and heat test conditions are: relative humidity is 95% (according to product specifications, up to 98%), temperature is + 40 ± 20oC, and test time is at least 96h according to product regulations. Alternating damp heat tests are more severe.
Second, temperature resistance
At present, the maximum working temperature of the connector is 200 degrees Celsius (except for high-temperature special connectors), and the minimum temperature is -65 degrees Celsius. When the connector is working, the current generates heat at the contact point, which leads to temperature rise. Therefore, it is generally considered that the operating temperature should be equal to the ambient temperature plus the contact temperature.
Third, salt spray resistance
When the connector works in an environment containing moisture and salt, the electroplated corrosion of the metal structure and the surface of the contact will cause galvanic corrosion, which will affect the physical and electrical properties of the connector. For the salt spray test, the connector is suspended in a temperature-controlled test chamber, and the sodium chloride solution with a specified concentration is sprayed with compressed air to form a salt spray atmosphere. The exposure time is specified by the product specification, at least 48 hours.
Fourth, resistance to vibration and shock
Vibration and shock resistance are important properties of electrical connectors, especially in special application environments such as aviation and underwater navigation, railway and road transportation. waterproof connectors is a test of the robustness and electrical contact reliability of the mechanical structure of electrical connectors.
